Twitter reacts as media officer saves Babar Azam ‘stunned’ from participating in IPL
Players are often surprised at press conferences when reporters ask them unexpected questions. Ahead of the T20 World Cup final against England, Babar Azam didn’t know what to answer when a reporter asked him about the improvement he would have had if he had participated in the IPL.
Pakistan are set to take on England on Sunday at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in the ongoing T20 World Cup Final. After back-to-back losses in the first two games, the Men in Green turned the tide in style to reach the top. However, it won’t be an easy task for Babar Azam and Co. to rise to glory as their opponents are coming off a brutal 10 wicket win over India in their semi-final.
As Babar and the Pakistan team management did their homework ahead of the final, a reporter’s question to the Pakistan skipper during the pre-match press conference left him dumbfounded. “Talk about the benefits of playing the IPL, is it something you think would have helped you and your team, and is it something you hope for in the future?” asked the reporter.
For a moment, Babar had no idea what to answer, and soon after, he turned to his right where the Pakistani media official was standing. “We are answering questions about the World Cup final right now,” the manager replied quickly to protect Babar.
The video went viral on social media in no time as Pakistani players’ participation in the Indian Premier League (IPL) has always been a hot topic for Twitterati.

People mocking IPL for glorifying PSL saying PAK players playing for PaSsiOn is extremely funny
I don’t need to tell anyone which country has the ugliest history of players involved in betting or cheating.

#PAKvFR @babarazam258 the team has potential to beat @englandcricket crew. We respect talents even if we had a bad relationship with them. @BCCI what’s the use of hosting 12 years of IPL, spending billions on players and not being able to win #T20WorldCup till date.
