‘The Dutch’ is closing its university location and will reopen in a new location on Broadway

On Sunday March 20, The Dutch restaurant and hideaway spent its last day on Main Gate Square, but that’s it for preparation for its new location at 5340 E. Broadway Blvd.

“Being at university for the past five years has been fun, but it’s time for us to graduate,” The Dutch said in a statement. “We are excited to introduce our new home to you at the Williams Center at the corner of Broadway and Craycroft next month.”

That being said, the crew expects to open in mid-April. However, they have a nice lineup of events in the works – the first taking place on Saturday April 16th.

What to expect in the new location

The space was once hosted by Pita Jungle but has since undergone a facelift, so to speak.

The Dutch are looking forward to more ‘Chef’s Table’ events that feature five- to seven-course tasting menus. Additionally, they will have an expansive shaded patio for additional seating, outdoor games for all ages, a lounge bar with fire pits, and a semi-private dining space that can be reserved in advance.

Oh, and another important detail is that there’s going to be free parking.

“We loved being at the school and are very excited about our new chapter,” said the co-owner, Nicole Van Winden“and be able to introduce the Dutch to a more diverse audience, who may not travel to the university area often.”
