Sustainability Specialist Joins BE-ST as Senior Renovation Program Impact Manager

SARA Edmonds has joined Built Environment – ​​Smarter Transformation (BE-ST) as Senior Impact Manager for Renovation Programs.

She will support the organization alongside her roles as Director of Studio seARCH Architects and Coordinator of the Architects Climate Action Network (ACAN), as well as ongoing consultancy work and hosting the Zero podcast. Ambitions, which focuses on sustainability in the built environment.

Sara first trained as an architect at the Edinburgh College of Art. She founded Studio seARCH in 2014 and has since championed the decarbonisation of the UK’s building stock, promoting the range of “holistic, social, economic and environmental benefits” that the transformation will bring.

Sara discovered BE-ST during COP26 last year. In her new role, her priorities will include building relationships and encouraging collaboration with strategic partners to share best practices in renovation and help businesses achieve their zero-carbon ambitions.

“During my first visit to BE-ST’s Innovation Factory during COP26, I saw the clear direction the Innovation Center was heading in terms of transformation, as well as dynamism in the whole industry,” Sara said. “The underlying values ​​spoke to me so powerfully and in that moment I knew there would be a great opportunity to work together.

“There are so many people who could benefit from the work being done by BE-ST and its partners, and I am delighted to help communicate and amplify this as much as possible. There is already a wealth of free and open source information on zero-carbon construction and an open invitation to collaborate with BE-ST to use this knowledge to bring about change.

“The industry is asking for more support, and the Innovation Center is in an exciting position to act as a central hub for organizations to point and signal to examples and initiatives that can be deployed more broadly to creating a more sustainable built environment.”
