St. Croix tabs new product manager

Rod manufacturer St. Croix has announced the hiring of Robert Woods as product manager. An avid fisherman originally from southeastern Wisconsin, Woods graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and spent the past eight years with Wells Vehicle Electronics in Fond du Lac.

“St. Croix’s continued growth is driven solely by our mission to make anglers better on the water,” said Jesse Simpkins, St. Croix’s Vice President of Marketing. the best team on Earth to make sure we develop and deliver the tools anglers need to enjoy this kind of increased success and experience. Robert is the latest example of this commitment. As Product Manager, Robert will leverage his unique experience working within a growing product team to help improve product development and delivery processes for all of our product categories.

Woods’ angling journey began at age 4 at his family’s cabin in northern Wisconsin, where his father taught him how to fish and he developed a fondness for walleye and jackfish. Muskie, as well as for the stems of Sainte-Croix.

“I remember my dad buying a St. Croix rod when I was about 8 and visiting the St. Croix factory outlet,” said Woods, who continued to hone his angling skills at Fond du Lac on Lake Winnebago. “I’ve always loved traveling to fish up north or taking trips to Green Bay and Lake Erie, but Bago has always been my home water.”

He remained active with a local fishing club throughout his career in Wells, serving 6 years as vice president, organizing and hosting many fishing events for veterans and children, while promoting the catch and release and other conservation initiatives.

“It’s been really amazing to learn and dive into all that St. Croix has at different stages of development for anglers,” Woods added. “I quickly learned that there is no business as usual here, unless business as usual refers to the core mission of putting fishermen at the center of everything Sainte-Croix does every day. ”
