PRRA CEO Talks 2023 Manitoba +55 Games Takeover of Portage – PortageOnline.com

The Portage Regional Recreation Authority brings the 2023 Manitoba 55+ Games to the community.

General Manager Angie Shindle says they had submitted an offer to host in 2021 but were unable to due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now that we are looking to get back to pre-pandemic life, they were contacted to arrange next year, and PRRA was happy to comply.

“The Games will take place June 20-22, 2023 and there will be a variety of activities going on across the community,” says Shindle. “From bowling to swimming to golf, we also have pickleball, horseshoes, pétanque and tons of different activities throughout these three days.”

She adds that they will also be hosting an awards ceremony and banquet for the games. Shindle notes that after having to wait for the past few years, she couldn’t be more excited that more than 800 attendees are coming to Portage.

“Just bringing this tourism activity and community engagement is still huge,” Shindle mentions. “(I think) Portage is such a welcoming community for that.”

She notes that PRRA is thrilled to bring the event back for the first time since 2004.
