SEATTLE (July 11, 2022) – evo, the retail and outdoor experiences company, today unveiled plans to build a new campus in Tahoe City, California. Campus Tahoe City will be centrally located on the shores of North Tahoe Lake in Tahoe City, directly across from Commons Beach, allowing residents and visitors easy access to recreation. The site is currently occupied by the historic Tahoe City Inn and America’s Best Value Inn, which evo plans to honor through restoration and pay homage to the roots of the place.
Like Campus Salt Lake, Campus Tahoe City will provide a gathering place for the community, bound together by a passion for the outdoors and the culture that surrounds the lifestyle. Common to all evo Campus locations are experience-driven spaces, with a mix of complementary offerings designed for the local community.

It’s a place that’s really magnetic to us – so many great people and the relationships over the years, the beauty of the region, its culture – it all intersects, making this a particularly exciting next step for evo.
Together, evo, evolution Projects and JK Architects will reinvent the site to make it the brand’s second evo Hotel. This will be complemented by a flagship retail store and leisure facilities. In addition to these key elements, the campus will also include:
- A cafe and a bar
- Service Shop
- Vibrant community programming and events
- An art gallery and campus-wide art space
In addition to elevating the existing space, the evo team is also considering a second phase of development for new builds in the future that will expand amenities and offerings.

In addition to retail stores and experiential offerings, evo wants Campus Tahoe City to contribute to a thriving community center and is also looking to incorporate multiple workforce housing units on the property.
The all-new campus will seek to increase outdoor access for Tahoe’s bustling community and the compilation of like-minded businesses will work closely with other local retailers to ensure customers get the equipment, expertise and advice for the adventure. Since announcing its plans, evo has received enthusiastic support from customers and other local businesses.
Brendan Madigan, owner of Alpenglow Sports, thinks evo’s entry into Tahoe could help boost morale and keep the city economically relevant after the Olympics. “Alpenglow Sports is a 42-year-old Tahoe City anchor – we have always sought to give back to the community that has given us so much. I am thrilled to partner with our new neighbors as we share an intersectionality of compassion and community care. With the campus aiming to open within the next two years, evo’s head of marketing, Rebecca Heard, confirmed that evo is excited to connect with the Tahoe community ahead of the grand opening..
