NAMI plans open house at new location, wellness workshop and support groups in November – BG Independent News

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Wood County is a leading self-help organization offering free events, educational classes, support groups and other programs that address mental health for the community of Wood County.

NAMI programming is free and available to all Wood County residents. Several events and support groups are planned for November.

An open house at the new NAMI site, at 1250 Ridgewood Drive, Bowling Green, on Tuesday, November 29. This family event will include:

  • Meet and greet Santa Claus
  • Photo booth with Santa Claus
  • Making ornaments for families
  • Hot chocolate and other delicacies
  • A tour of the new NAMI Wood County building

The Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) Workshop is a two-day, free, self-designed course on identifying personal wellness tools. The next WRAP workshop will be November 17-18, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., both days at the new NAMI Wood County location.

NAMI Wood County is also hosting another “Chip-In” Volunteer Day on Tuesday, November 15. This day will be about creating care packages to distribute to residents of the Wood County community this holiday season. Anyone interested in participating in Chip-In Day can visit www.namiwoodcounty.org to register.

Membership levels range from $5 to $60. You can also volunteer for NAMI Wood County. There are opportunities to get involved as a support group or class leader, office volunteer, and more. NAMI Wood County is also continuing its Hybrid NAMI Connection Recovery Support Group. The peer and family support group has moved to the Perrysburg Counseling Center.
