Mike ‘Moose’ Smith joins Max Media Norfolk as COO

Max Media Norfolk has announced the addition of Mike “Moose” Smith as Chief Operating Officer.

Smith, who had just joined East Carolina Radio Group AC “96.7 The Coast” WKJX Elizabeth City NC as morning host earlier this month, previously worked for Max Media as general manager, on-air host and regional vice president for the company’s northeast. The Carolina, Arkansas, and Illinois resorts spent fourteen years co-hosting matinees at “Beach 104” WCXL Kill Devil Hills NC when the company owned it. He also previously worked on air in Raleigh and Norfolk with stints in the market at 92.9 WFOG, 95.7 WVKL and 101.3 WWDE.

Smith takes over the Olympian duties that were held by Eddie Haskell until his departure in July.

Max Media Hampton Roads is proud to announce the return of Mike “Moose” Smith to the Max Media family. Effective immediately, Smith will assume the role of Director of Operations for the Hampton Roads cluster.

Moose remarked: “I am delighted to join the Max Media family in Norfolk. These radio stations are legendary and the team that Keith has put together is fantastic. I’m honored to have been asked to join this team and can’t wait to get started! Smith, who has more than 20 years of experience with Max Media, including stops at the company’s clusters in North Carolina, Virginia, Arkansas and Illinois, is a graduate of East Carolina University and will officially take his duties on Monday, September 26.

“Mike has been a friend and colleague of mine for over 15 years, and we are extremely pleased to welcome him back to Virginia Beach,” said Keith Barton, President and Market Director of Max Media Hampton Roads.
