The owners of the first self-proclaimed cold-pressed juice bar in Myrtle Beach are expanding with a second larger location.

Sisters Leonella and Lorenna Gonzalez are opening another Loleo juice bar, this one at 7712 North Kings Highway. They hope to open before Christmas.

Leonella believes the sisters created the first true cold-pressed juice bar in Myrtle Beach when they opened on Howard Avenue at The Market Common in October 2019.

“We’re the first juice bar in Myrtle Beach and the first to offer cold-pressed juice in town as well,” said Leonella. “Everything here is made from scratch and we base our menu on raw vegan food. Our main goal is to keep our menu very simple with simple ingredients and ingredients that people can recognize. We don’t use any kind of preservatives, ice or anything added to our smoothies.

The initial name was Juiced Up, but to avoid branding issues, the sisters created a name that combined their first names.

Business has justified its expansion and the new location will have a lot more seating. “We definitely needed more space,” said Leonella.

The Loleo serves fresh juices, smoothies, lattes and meals made from local products. The juices are not pasteurized. Fruits and vegetables are frozen, so there is no need to use ice. “That way we can create the consistency of the smoothie,” Leonella said.

Leonella is a certified holistic health coach. “I am very passionate about nutrition and what food can do for us,” she said. “I was struggling with my relationship with food and draconian diets, I started doing research and…. . study nutrition more and look for someone to help me understand what my body does and what foods are good for me.

The sisters are from Puerto Rico and came to Myrtle Beach through stays in New York City. They got more involved in the community by organizing workshops and events.

“This is our main goal as a company, we want to create a movement, to create a brand so that people understand that you are what you eat, which is why our menu is so simple and so clear”, a said Leonella. “There is nothing behind what we put in our smoothies or our juices. “

Loleo offers over a dozen dietary supplements such as bee pollen, hemp seeds, turmeric, and chia seeds.

The menu for the new location will be the same as the menu for the current store initially. “We’re looking to expand the menu eventually because it will be much bigger than this one,” Leonella said.

The menu changes slightly with the seasons, and the winter menu includes homemade almond butter with chocolate and peppermint, a chocolate-peppermint smoothie, and a winter coconut bowl. For the holidays, there’s also a bottled cold-pressed juice Naughty With Some Spice.
