Through her naivety and embarrassment to admit that she knew nothing about tea, the owners of the teahouse would bring a cup of their choice. She learned that tea isn’t just the camellia sinensis, known as the tea plant, but it’s all kinds of herbs, flowers, fruits and vegetables.
When she returned to the United States, she realized that “no one does what these cute little mom and pop shops do.”
About a dozen years ago she made her own tea combinations and gave them as Christmas gifts, and compliment after compliment she finally launched her tea business – hosting tea parties and teaching people how to do it.
Selling vintage products at the tea shop was something that added to the uniqueness of the store.
“I love pretty much anything antique and vintage, hence the name Antiquity Tea House,” she said.
And everything from local Ohio and Hamilton antiques to locally sourced herbs, flowers, fruits and vegetables, as well as honey, is available at Kinship.
