Dorchester Sports v Hamworthy United Reserves: Team news and manager’s interview

DORCHESTER Sports boss Ashley James has warned his in-form side have a target on their backs ahead of hosting Hamworthy United Reserves at the Avenue Stadium tomorrow (2pm).

Sports are on a record 12-game winning streak and return to Jewishon Dorset Premier League action after a two-week gap in games.

James’ men overcame Wareham Rangers 7-2 in their last New Year’s Day outing and beat future opponents Hamworthy 6-1 before Christmas.

James told Echosport: “We have been in exceptional form both home and away.

“We have only managed to win four games this season, so we are confident and positive.

“We went back there this week and expect a tough game, but with the home advantage we hope to get three more points.

“It’s an awesome race, but every time we keep publicizing it, every team is going to want to try to end it.

“We did that at Merley at the start of the season and I’m sure Hamworthy will be eager to end it.

“We have to be at our best level and we will prepare for a tough game. We didn’t have everything our way to them just before Christmas.

James has a selection headache ahead of the contest.

“We have 19 available, so I have some tough decisions to make,” he admitted.

“The good news is that the whole squad is fit. The first time in ages that we’ve been able to choose from a fully fit squad.

“It’s great for us to approach what is going to be a very difficult period with the two semi-finals and Merley next week.”
