Could this modern rural space be your next event venue? > A bit of stone
An entrepreneurial couple launches a modern countryside creative space suitable for a myriad of events. Whether it’s corporate meetings, photo shoots, workshops and more, the Hideout creative space could be the place for you!
Matt and Tracy Bishop, husband and wife, are no strangers to building businesses. Based just outside Fulford, the couple already run a thriving recording studio and cattery, but they had a spare building just begging to be used.
We spoke to the Hideout Creative Space duo and their respective journeys:
“We’re Matt and Tracy, and with the help of Maggie Hollinshead, we’re thrilled to introduce our creative space to the people of Stone.
Matt is a music professional with a thriving recording studio operating out of the same location as Hideout.
Tracy’s primary career is in finance and corporate public speaking, along with complementary skills in hypnotherapy and personal development coaching.
Maggie is our Art Guru and Crafting Champion. Oh, and we also run the Kandahar cattery on site because we love animals and wildlife!
We are very enterprising and had a redundant building that cried out for a purpose.
We already had a request for space for video and photo shoots, and recording studio micro-concerts, so we decided to redevelop the building to provide space for all kinds of events and creative activities to so people can hold their own events in this stunning part of the Staffordshire countryside.
The team went on to tell us about their space and the work that went into opening it up:
“We started the redevelopment in the spring of this year (2022) and opened our doors in early September.
We have created a beautiful rural and rustic event space that can be rented by the hour, half day, full day or over several days for a wide range of events.
So far we have had bookings for corporate meetings, small concerts, video shoots, craft workshops, meditation sessions and family gatherings such as baby showers.
Maggie also leads a series of arts and crafts workshops. We’re also testing coworking days where you can book an office for a day or half a day to break up the week if you’re a solo entrepreneur or working from home.
With a number of event spaces in and around Stone, we were eager to hear what they consider their unique selling point to customers:
“We think our rural setting sets us apart; everyone who books loves the countryside and the views and loves being able to break up their meeting or workshop with some time in the great outdoors with a walk in the countryside or even feeding our alpacas.
We have free parking on site and, of course, free Wi-Fi. We also want to make sure everyone has successful events, so we’ll work with you to plan your event from scratch and can provide practical support and advice to help you create an impactful event.
The team went on to say:
“We want to encourage our customers to get the most out of the campaign. Bring walking shoes or wellies, and we’ll suggest circular walks that fit perfectly for a break from your schedule.
If you are new to organizing events or meetings and feeling nervous about the practicalities and logistics or even need a boost of confidence, please chat with us as we have extensive experience and skills to help you.
One of the things we love about starting this business is discovering so many local businesses and entrepreneurs who are doing great things. Staffordshire is such a creative place and we love being a part of it.
