MESA, AZ (3TV / CBS 5) – eegee’s announced the opening of its second valley location in Mesa later this month after receiving a welcome response in nearby Gilbert.

As part of the inauguration on December 14, the restaurant will organize a contest of “ugly” and LIVE 101.5 holiday sweaters. Artist Paige Poppe has designed special stickers that will be handed out during opening week, while supplies last. Eeegee’s personalized cocktail recipes, cultivated by Joshua James of Clever Koi, will be posted on eegee’s Instagram. The Tucson-based restaurant chain first opened in the Valley near Baseline Road and Val Vista Drive in July.

“We were delighted with the reception we received at the launch of eegee’s in Gilbert,” said Ron Petty, CEO of eegee’s.

This location will feature a prototype that should serve as a model for future Phoenix market locations. eegee’s claims the building is constructed using durable insulated structural panels, which are recyclable and allow for faster construction. An eegee-only window will allow those ordering the signature drink to pick up their order and exit the queue. The company has announced plans to open more locations in the valley in 2022.

“Our goal is to build on this momentum, bringing our unique offering to more neighborhoods in Metro Phoenix, starting with East Valley and our first location in Gilbert and now, Mesa. We look forward to showing our neighbors in Mesa who we are – a tradition built on community, convenience and great taste, ”said Petty.

Mesa’s location will be at 1460 S. Crismon Road, near US 60. Eeegee hours of operation will be Monday through Sunday, 9:30 am to 9:00 pm; the drive-thru service remains open until 10 p.m.

Members of Hollywood Park City Council and the Economic Development Corporation. the board plans to have a joint meeting, preferably before the end of the year.

The purpose of the meeting, according to city leaders and EDC members, is to ensure that the two panels agree on local economic development issues.

At the time of this article’s publication, a date and time has yet to be confirmed for a joint EDC board and board meeting. City officials said the meeting will be held in the city hall council chamber at 2 Makkah Promenade and the meeting will be open to the public.

A joint meeting was a topic of discussion at the November 16 board meeting. City secretary Patrick Aten said that as a new EDC board has recently been put in place, this was a great opportunity for the board to decide what kind of eligible projects it would like to see proposed for EDC support.

Board member Sean Moore, who is also an EDC board member, said he would like to see projects and assets that directly support city services and, in turn, support Hollywood Park’s business. or help attract new businesses to the city.

“These should be opportunities to go with it,” Moore said of future joint board and EDC talks.

Moore also asked about vacancies in the city’s main shopping district along US 281 and what can be done to help encourage greater business occupancy.

Board member Debbie Trueman agreed that more emphasis should be placed on efforts to attract and retain businesses that can generate a consistent sales tax revenue stream.

Mayor Oscar Villarreal and board member Glenna Pearce both said they wanted to hear more directly from EDC’s board.

“It puts us on the same page. I think it will be very beneficial for EDC to go in a direction that benefits everyone, ”Villarreal said.

Tom Sims, who recently retired as chairman of the EDC board, endorsed Villarreal’s assessment at the EDC board meeting on November 18.

“It’s better if EDC and city council are on the same page,” he said.

Delaine Hall, board member and vice-chair of the board, EDC, said part of the joint discussion will help ensure that EDC develops projects that are more likely to garner board support.

“It saves us, on this side of the fence, a lot of time.” Hall said.

Meanwhile, EDC plans to host an event in spring 2022 at the Voigt Center for Businesses in Hollywood Park.

EDC members were recently working on a tentative March 1 date for the event, which current board chairman Andrew Moon described as an introduction from local business owners to the new board of directors of EDC. ‘EDC and the community.

” It will be a [chance to] celebrate business opportunities, ”Moon added.

Worcester’s Tatnuck Square area is about to get a little nicer.

Ms. Moriconi’s ice cream has found a permanent home in the community after hosting pop-ups across town and at the Sprinkler Factory.

Ms Moriconi’s new home is at 1116 Pleasant St. – an owner of the location, Julia Moriconi, said he fell to his knees by accident.

Many of Ms. Moriconi’s employees participate in the Worcester Technical High School Hospitality Program. Program instructor Chief Betty Casey invited Moriconi to an advisory board meeting about two weeks ago.

During the meeting, Casey discussed his business, On the Rise Baking, located at 1116 Pleasant Street. The building, which is owned by Casey, was vacant.

“We talked about how we would be complementary businesses to each other. Before I knew it, we had the place to do a Thanksgiving Eve pop-up, ”Moriconi said.

After planning the pop-up a week ago, Casey let Moriconi know she can rent the space. Ms. Moriconi moved in shortly after.

“It was a good thing, otherwise I would have run out of ice cream on [Thanksgiving Eve] if I didn’t have all of my freezers there with my inventory, ”Moriconi said.

In early 2020, Moriconi aligned funding for the Small Business Administration and selected a potential location in the Worcester Canal District, but COVID-19 suspended those ambitions.

Since then, Moriconi has been sharing some of the creamiest artisanal ice cream in town through pop-ups this year. While originally living in Sprinkler Factory, Moriconi previously appeared at Shrewsbury’s Farmer’s Market, Redemption Rock Brewing Co., and food truck festivals.

Ms. Moriconi now finally has a permanent home.

“The good people at Tatnuck have definitely made me welcome,” Moriconi said.

The annual Englewood Invitational Thanksgiving art festival, hosted by local artist Carroll Swayze, is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, November 27 and 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at a new location – on the grounds of the Englewood Elks Club at 401 N. Avenue Indiana in Englewood.

“I’m so excited to get back into business,” Swayze said. “The pandemic has been tough on everyone, especially independent artists who literally lost their livelihoods when festivals, art exhibitions and galleries were forced to cancel their events and close their doors. While it was fantastic to have the time to create, it was difficult to survive financially the past two years and we are very happy to exhibit again!

Ron Lemoine
Karen Blanche

The Thanksgiving Art Festival is a small, high-quality art exhibit with an impressive roster of 40 award-winning artists and artisans. All forms of media will be represented, all artwork in the exhibition is handmade by the artists who create them and they will be there to talk about their work and share their interesting life stories with the crowd.

“I have been chairing art festivals here in Englewood for over three decades,” Swayze said. “I work hard to find exciting new artwork to present in our community on Thanksgiving weekend, when our town is teeming with visitors from the north and local families returning home for the holidays. This year’s show promises to be awesome as I have a lot of new artists coming to town. I am very grateful for the support of the Englewood Elks Club, which welcomes us this year. The location on N. Indiana Avenue / SR 776 is perfect for the event as it is highly visible with plenty of free parking.

Delicious food and refreshments will be available onsite provided by Chef Doug and the Englewood Elks.

The Anglewood Thanksgiving Art Festival will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays November 27 and 28, and the public is invited to spend a day with artists and artisans from across the country.

For directions and more information on the show, call Carroll Swayze at (941) 266-6434.
