Middlesbrough and former Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has emerged as the bookmakers’ favorite to replace Sean Dyche as Burnley’s new manager.
SkyBet have Wilder as 4/5 favorites to replace Dyche, who the Clarets dismissed on Friday with Burnley in danger of seeing their six-year stay in the top flight come to an end this season. Boro de Wilder’s side are currently ninth and three points clear of the Championship play-off places with just four games remaining. However, Boro played one game less than most teams also vying for a top-six spot.
The bookmakers’ second favorite is former England manager Sam Allardyce. The 67-year-old has been out of a job since leaving West Bromwich Albion last year, failing to save them from relegation.
The Clarets are currently managed by Under-23 manager Mike Jackson, who oversaw Sunday’s 1-1 draw at West Ham United at the London Stadium.
They are currently three points from safety, with their next match being Thursday night at home against Southampton. Meanwhile Everton, currently sitting in 17 and are also in action midweek, hosting Leicester City on Wednesday night.
Jackson is not currently on SkyBet’s shortlist to replace Dyche, but there are plenty of familiar faces behind Wilder and Allardyce in the bookies race.
