AMA to Host ‘Art Ball’ in New Downtown Location

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) — The Albany Museum of Art is hosting its 2022 “Art Ball” this month. But this is the first time it will be in their new location.

Their theme this year is metamorphosis to symbolize the change and transition they are making from this building to their new location.

Chloe Hinton, Director of Development and Membership, said it was one of their biggest fundraisers. The money they collect allows anyone who wants to visit the art museum to do so.

“There is no admission charge, so anyone can come here. Something new from January 2022, we will not be charging schools for school trips,” Hinton said.

They hope this move will not only bring more traffic to the museum, but bring more people to downtown Albany.

“It has been a wonderful home for the museum since the early 80’s, many people have worked hard to make sure this building exists. We do not want to forget their efforts. But we believe we can do even more for the downtown community,” Hinton said.

That’s not the only reason they move.

“The straight winds affected our museum. Our collection was to be stored in Chicago and Atlanta. It pushed us to keep going downtown, which we’re really excited about,” Hinton said.

They hope that this change marks a new beginning. The Art Ball will include a cocktail, dinner and live auction.
